Who We Are

We are Drew and Jan Coulter, farmers in Central Scotland, renting a mixed hill farm - Northdeanhead

We wanted

• to know the total greenhouse gas emissions from our farm
• so we could understand how big a problem we might have
• when, as we believe, the government and the EU will bring in policies to enforce a reduction of greenhouse gases from all individuals and industries
• thus we would have the facts to challenge calculations imposed by government/EU agencies

Having effectively built a carbon calculator for land based industries we decided in June 2007 to make this available to other farmers and interested people in the land-based industry sector. We have had a lot of help and advice from friends and family and many other people including the staff at Lanarkshire Business Gateway.

We are also very grateful to the LEADER+ program for South Lanarkshire, who gave us a small grant to establish this web site.

Company Mission Statement

• Empower farmers and associated land-based industries in arena of greenhouse gas emissions by allowing them to calculate their own carbon equivalent footprint.
• In collaboration with other farmer led organisations, ensure new regulations (government and supermarket driven) are economically, environmentally and socially feasible as well as scientifically justified.
• Encourage reduction of greenhouse gas emissions globally.
